Conditions faced by the Maplewood Fire Department on arrival at the Essex Ave. house fire at 3:20 a.m. on June 2nd: Fully involved 2-1/2 story wood-frame dwelling with intense heat, not allowing firefighters to make entry or come in close proximity to the structure, occupants reported to be trapped inside, two exposure problems with one house already starting to ignite, live power lines down in the street arcing, and a vehicle burning in the driveway.

Not many more things out there that a fire department can be faced with when pulling up to a house fire and all of this was initially handled by only eight firefighters. Even with the extreme conditions present, the main priority was focusing on saving lives!
